Klöckner Pentaplast, a global packaging, printing, and specialty solutions provider, is set to invest €45.6m, as part of its production capacity expansion plans for 2013-2014.

The company will expand its facilities in Cotia, Brazil; Suzhou, China; Newport/Crumlin, Great Britain; and Santo Tirso, Portugal.

As part of the expansion plans, the company will install an extrusion line at its Newport/Crumlin, Great Britain manufacturing facility for polyester films, which are primarily used for food and consumer packaging applications, with an investment of €6m.

The extrusion line, which will add 8,000t of capacity, is expected to start up in July 2014.

In July, Klöckner Pentaplast has opened first packaging films production facility at the Suzhou Industrial Park in China, with an investment of €22.5m, which increased the company's production capacity by 6,600t to cater to the demand in Asia.

The company has expanded polyester film manufacturing capacity at its site in Santo Tirso, Portugal, with an investment of €5.5m, which added 8,000t. This supported the company's growing European food and consumer packaging films markets.

It has expanded Cotia manufacturing facility at Sao Paulo in Brazil to produce 1,200t of additional coating and laminating capacity, with an investment of €11.6m.

The plant is scheduled to commence production of additional coating and laminating capacity in December 2013.
