Biorigin, the Brazilian beta-glucan company, has announced that it intends to promote Goldcell Beta Glucan as a food ingredient to the European market.
The decision comes after the company won EU novel foods approval. The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) approved beta-glucan health claims back in 2010 after Swiss CreaNutrition AG submitted a claim on oat bet-glucan's blood cholesterol lowering/reducing properties.
Goldcell beta-glucan consists of highly purified yeast beta-glucans that are derived from the cell walls of Saccharomyces cerevisiae (baker’s yeast).
Biorigin's Godlcell line consists of dry and autolysed yeasts, which can be used as a nutritional source, as supplementation and to assign consistency and texture to different food products.
Biorigin is part of Zilor, a Brazillian producer of ethanol, sugar and sugar cane electricity.
