After a long search for a suitable site for its expansion plans, German sweets producer Haribo has announced that it is to construct a new logistics and production site just a few kilometers outside Haribo’s original headquarters in Bonn.
Company spokesman Marco Alfter told reporters that the traditional headquarters and the new production site in Bonn would both remain equally important. The family-owned business, which was founded in 1920 and is best known for its gummy bears, already produces sweets at 15 European locations.
According to the confectionery manufacturer, further investment and expansion were necessary to comply with the increasing demand for Haribo products across Europe.
Hans Guido Riegel, executive partner of Haribo, commented, ‘Through this move, Haribo determines its future course and continues to create new jobs. In doing so, Haribo deliberately promotes German locations despite alternative offers abroad.’
The company stated that it was yet to be determined how many jobs exactly will be created at the new production site.
