German confectioner Haribo has appointed civil and structural engineering consultancy JPG to advise it on the delivery of its new manufacturing facility in West Yorkshire.
JPG is consulting with Haribo to help deliver specialist production facilities on the 722,000ft² site and put in place appropriate structural design solutions.
The contract involves design work to support four production buildings, an energy conservation center, silo buildings, a despatch building and a gatehouse.
The £92m project is expected to create about 300 jobs and is backed by a £6.4m grant from the government's Regional Growth Fund.
JPG director Chris Harding said, "Our previous work in the area means that we already have extensive knowledge of the local landscape and this has assisted Haribo enormously in planning civil and structural elements for its very specific facility demands.
"We also have extensive knowledge of the food industry with projects undertaken for ARLA and Carlsberg. The structural and material demands for any food manufacturing facility are very complex due to hygiene, processing and temperature requirements."
Haribo produces and distributes fruit gums, liquorices, and foam-based sweets. The company operates production facilities in Germany and Europe, with sales offices in the US and Europe.
