Alfa Laval, a Swedish provider of specialized products for heat transfer, centrifugal separation and fluid handling, has secured a SEK70m ($10.88m) contract from vegetable oil plant in Brazil to provide equipment to refine crude vegetable oil.
As part of the deal, Alfa Laval will supply equipment such as separators and heat exchangers to refine crude vegetable oil into high quality oil.
Alfa Laval president and CEO Lars Renström said, "Our food business in Brazil has developed well during the year and this order confirms our strong position as a reliable supplier of solutions to the vegetable oil industry."
The company's equipment, systems and services assist customers in optimizing the performance of their processes. Its solutions help them to heat, cool, separate and transport products in food and beverages, chemicals and petrochemicals, pharmaceuticals, starch, sugar and ethanol industries.
In addition, the products are used in power plants, aboard ships, in the mechanical engineering industry, in the mining industry and for wastewater treatment, as well as for comfort climate and refrigeration applications.
In 2012, Alfa Laval reported annual sales of about SEK29.8bn (€3.5bn).
