American hypermarket chain Meijer has broken ground on a new dairy production facility in Tipp City, Ohio, as part of its expansion project to boost its manufacturing capabilities.
The proposed dairy plant, which will be spread over on an area of around 105,000ft², will produce milk, as well as a wide range of dairy products including cottage cheese and yogurt.
The plant will make its products available to 100 stores in Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, and Kentucky, creating around 100 local jobs.
Dayton Development Coalition president & CEO Jeff Hoagland said that the Meijer dairy plant is another exciting announcement for the Dayton Region and the state of Ohio.
"The Dayton Development Coalition remains diligent and focused on company expansions, job creation, capital investment and economic growth for the entire Dayton Region," added Hoagland.
Additionally, Meijer intends to invest around $100m in the city over the future, while creating around 103 jobs.
Meijer will start hiring for the new dairy facility in Tipp City later this year.
