Crown Embalagens MCrown Braziletálicas da Amazônia (Crown Brazil) has unveiled a new beverage can production plant in Teresina, the state capital of Piauí in the northeastern part of the country.

Initially, the Teresina plant will be able to produce one billion beverage cans annually, with capability to expand capacity over the future.

The plant will produce cans in various formats including 269ml, 310ml, 355ml and 425ml sleek style cans and 355ml, 473ml and 550ml standard cans.

Crown Brazil president Djalma Novaes said that the company's customers in the north and northeast regions of Brazil are experiencing strong growth.

"By opening a facility in Teresina, we are well positioned geographically to reduce transportation distances, streamline logistics and provide timely customer support," added Novaes.

With the addition of Teresina, Crown Brazil currently operates five plants across the country.

Crown's other production facilities are located in Cabreúva, São Paulo; Estância, Sergipe; Manaus, Amazonas; and Ponta Grossa, Paraná.

Crown Brazil is a joint venture between Crown Holdings and Évora.
