German supermarket chain Rewe has launched a new app for iOS and Android smartphone users. The app offers a host of features to support customers with shopping and planning.
The app, which was developed by Experience Studion of SapientNitro, is said to facilitate the shopping process and enhance the in-store experience.
Customers can obtain information on special offers and either create a new shopping list or synchronise the app with their list on rewe.de.
The app is available for iOS as well as Android and can be operated online and offline. Being operated with one hand makes it most convenient for shopping on the go.
Joachim Bader, SapientNitro vice president, is convinced his company’s new app is ideally suited for retail.
“Mobile technologies are so convenient due to their immediacy. For mobile services to work properly and to be taken on easily by customers it has to adapt perfectly to the respective situation,” he said.
According to Bader, the new Rewe app was a good example for functions ‘optimally suited for its use case.’
“This does not only create added value but is also fun to use”, he said.
SapientNitro’s app certainly has to meet high expectations. Divisional sales director of Rewe, Marcus Haus, said that the "mobile medium is an extraordinarily important addition our stationary services. Via this channel we are able to offer additional services which will really benefit our customers. This way the gap between POS and customers can be finally closed.”
