2 Sisters Food, England-based chicken meat processing company, is set to close its chicken-processing plant at Haughley Park, Suffolk on 15 November, leaving 600 jobs at risk.
The decision follows consultations with staff and unions to find alternative solutions, the company said, adding that the plant was unsustainable and unviable.
The company purchased the Haughley Park site in 2005. In August, it announced plans to shut the Stowmarket plant.
2 Sisters Food spokesperson was quoted by BBC as saying, "The inescapable truth is that the site is unsustainable and unviable.
"It's ageing, loss-making and, due to the remote location, there is not adequate power supply, so it is with regret we have announced our intention to cease production and close Haughley Park.
"We're very committed to the area as a core production base because of the supply of grain and chickens."
USDAW union area organizer Adam Skwierawski said, "We have examined the employer's claims and the claims are genuine and our role is to try and reduce the impact of redundancies on our members."
The company operates facilities at Eye and Flixton in Suffolk; Thetford in Norfolk, and Basildon and Witham in Essex.
