Tesco loses Irish groceries market to Dunnes Stores

Tesco is cDunnes Storesurrently being outperformed by Dunnes Stores in the Irish groceries market. The statistics show that Dunnes boosted sales from 5% to 23% from the 12 weeks to October in Ireland this year. Tesco's share decreased in last period by 6.5% to 26.6%.

The retailers received further market sales after launching is 'Shop and Save' campaign. This was introduced to encourage more costumers to shop at Dunnes during the weeks up to Christmas. They introduced a similar campaign last year which also saw an increase in their sales. In the 12 weeks to January 20 2013, Dunnes had a 24.3% share of the market after it ran the campaign last Christmas.
