STI Group Awarded the WorldStar

The WorldStar paMcMixckaging competition that has been organised by the World Packaging Organisation since 1970 recognises innovative products that go beyond the state of the art. Three products developed and produced by the STI Group impressed the judges again this year and received the internationally coveted WorldStar award.

McMix: Clever Packaging for McDonald`s
Because of direct contact with food, McDonald’s has stringent quality standards for the materials, inks and varnishes used for its packaging. For the McMix packaging for Mc Donald`s, the folding box experts from the STI Petöfi Nyomda Kft. (Hungary) recommended ISEGA-certified material that can be safely used even in direct contact with food. The folding box for the fast-food snack is coated on the inside and outside so that neither the moisture originating from the warm contents nor the grease from the food is soaked up by the packaging. This way, the McMix-Box remains stable and the contents stay fresh for a longer time.

Dr. Kitzinger: Unpacking made easy
The sophisticated cosmetics packaging for Dr. Kitzinger provides a special unpacking experience. The bottom part was designed as a dual-chamber folding box in which the ampoules are placed vertically and can thus be easily removed. Pre-glued edges on the lower part support the cover, preventing pressure on the ampoules during stacking. The overhanging edge of the packaging helps in opening it effortlessly. The high degree of whiteness of the cardboard, silver-foil embossing, embossing and 2D printing on the reverse side underscore the packaging finish.

Durex: Mutual Pleasure Display
The display immediately catches the attention of shoppers with its young design. The minimalistic design combined with the blue logo results in high brand recognition among the young generation. Moreover, the words ‘Love Sex’ directly address the target group. The display is delivered in retail, built and completely stocked. This facilitates easy handling in retail and also reduces transport costs.

249 Entries from 35 countries
One of the conditions for entering the competition was that the products entered must have already won another award. Only then can they be presented to the renowned jury and compete with entries from around the world. The entries of the STI Group came out tops against the 246 entries from 35 countries. The awards presentation ceremony will be held in May 2014 during the Interpack in Düsseldorf.
