Campobello Hoseafoodldings has unveiled plans to open a seafood processing plant in Eastport, Maine, a move which would create 15 jobs over the next two years.

The company is set to invest $500,000 on building improvements, equipment and employee training.

The facility is expected to process, blast freeze, package, store and export lobster and other seafood products and cater to the company's customers across the world.

Governor Paul LePage said, "This new processing facility will serve as a direct link from Maine waters to markets across the globe.

"A booming fishing and lobster industry is vital to the ongoing success of Maine's economy."

Campobello Holdings officer Jimmy Wong said, "We have worked very closely with our local, regional and technical advisers on plan implementation, and are very grateful for the high level of professionalism and 'can do' spirit we've encountered at every step."

To secure the project, the Maine Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD) and LePage have worked with the company over the past several months.
