Walnuts Australia was shortlisted as a finalist after winning the Agribusiness Award at the Tasmanian Export Awards in October This success follows on from Walnuts Australia’s national win last year in the Emerging Exporter category.
Walnuts Australia owns and manages over 2,200 hectares of walnut orchards primarily on the East Coast, Tasmania and in the Riverina, NSW. It has another 1000 hectares currently under development.
Walnuts Australia is also investing in walnut processing and will commission a new, state-of-the art walnut cracking and value adding facility in February 2014 ahead of the new season. Total spend will exceed $11 million on the purpose built facility. This project is heavily focused on key export markets in both Asia and Europe to support their domestic retail supply programs.
Chief executive officer of Webster Limited, John Hosken, said it is a team effort. “This industry recognition and award is a result of a team effort and collaboration amongst our staff, customers and suppliers,” he said.
