The final regional water company belonging to the French division of the Nestlé Waters group, Breton Plancoët, has been sold to the Société des Eaux Minérales d'Ogeu for an undisclosed fee.
Plancoët was the last of three French regional mineral water brands that made up Nestlé Waters' French division.
Its bottling facility in Côtes-d'Armor produces 15 million bottles each year, generating €8.2m annual sales. The deal includes the mineral water Breton Sainte-Alix.
In July of 2013, Nestlé Waters sold the Carola and Val St Lambert water brands to SPadel of Belgium and the Société des Eaux Minérales d'Ogeu respectively. Nestlé Waters said that the the deals are part of an over-arching plan in the company re-focus on its national and international brands in France.
Nestlé Waters is of course, a division of the Swiss multinational food group Nestlé Group, who themselves are embarking on a strategy of selling underperforming brands. Nestlé are expected to sell such assets as its PowerBar fitness bar business, and 10% of food fragrance and flavor maker Givaudan.
