French cauliflower production will not exceed 316,000 tonnes in 2013-14, the Minister of Agriculture states in a recent Agreste publication. This is 8% less than the previous year.
This drop in production, ''in a context where the surface area is maintained, is due to a reduction in yield and, more precisely, a lower weight per head compared to the last season, which was a record season since 2000 weighing in at 1.951 kg'', underlines the Minister.
The average weight per head remains under 1.9 kg, which is an increase on the five year average of 1.840kg and a very clear progression compared to the average production between 2000 and 2010 which was at 1.720 kg.
