California Dairies (CDI), a US-based milk marketing and processing co-operative, has outlined plans to install a third evaporator at its facility Visalia, San Joaquin Valley, California.

With the new evaporator, the co-operative is seeking to strengthen its processing capabilities in the region.

The project will allow the company to produce value-added milk powders, to meet the global demand as well as tight export specifications for the product.

In addition, it will allow CDI to expand relationships with its international customers and improve its presence in the global markets.

The evaporator is expected to go onstream in February 2016.

California Dairies CEO Andrei Mikhalevsky said, "Management continues to look for new ways to add value to its member-owners' milk through the expansion and improvement of its assets and product offerings.

"The addition of a new evaporator combines increased capacity and improved capabilities to offer CDI the flexibility to adjust product portfolios as market demands shift, which will grow market share and maximize member-owner profits."
