The past six months have been busy for Tom Amery and the team at The Watercress Company, after a visit to The Netherlands in September new contacts have been made and the supply to Europe is increasing.
The Watercress Company with 67 ha globally, is the biggest watercress producer in the UK and Europe. "The domestic crop has gotten off to a good start this season, we have been harvesting for 3-4 weeks now with UK production exceeding 30t. Our baby leaf crops have been a little later than previous years but this weekend will prove to be a great start to the summer season sales," explains Amery.
There is a lot going on for The Watercress Company in the coming months. This Saturday they will be heading down to Borough Market for a "Watercress Extravaganza" where they will be giving free samples away and looking at the possibility of setting up a permanent stand at the market.
Sunday 18th May the annual Alresford Watercress Festival will take place for the 10th year and they are expecting around 14000 visitors for a fun filled day.
The following weekend (May 24/26/26) you can find The Watercress Company along with its little sister company, The Wasabi Company at Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall River Cottage Food Fair.
