Registration for Seafood Expo Asia 2014, formerly known as the Asian Seafood Exposition, is now open, according to Diversified Communications.

The show will return to the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre on 2 to 4 September 2014. The event, now in its fifth year, attracted more than 7,500 seafood professionals from 75 countries at the 2013 event. More than 170 suppliers also attended and exhibited their products. The show is marketed toward the full seafood industry supply chain, from importers to distributors to chefs and buyers from foodservice and retail.

Mary Larkin, group VP of seafood expositions at Diversified, noted that the changing seafood markets in Asia make the event that much more important to the industry.

"With middle class incomes on the rise, China's appetite for seafood is rapidly shifting and increasing as consumers become more conscious of quality and taste,” she said. “Many exhibitors at Seafood Expo Asia are therefore companies from across the globe wishing to cater to a Chinese market where consumption is expected to climb from the current 12kg per person to 36kg by 2020."

Show Director Terri Tsang said a survey of visitors from the 2013 event shows that attendees visit the show intending to make a purchase of some kind.

"We are very excited to be exhibiting again at this year's Seafood Expo Asia," said Mike Scott, President and CEO of Maniilaq Services, whose company represents Arctic Circle Wild Salmon. "As a result of exhibiting at the 2013 exposition, we met many new potential clients and were even able to secure a deal with one of the region's leading hoteliers."
