Blumar USA and Platina Seafood USA are the newest members of the National Fisheries Institute’s Salmon Council. In joining, both companies recognize the importance of raising salmon’s profile and promoting its health benefits among consumers.
Based in Norway with a sales office in Miami, Platina provides a variety of salmon products to North America.
“Salmon keeps growing in popularity among American consumers,” said Platina Seafood President Johan Andreassen. “The Salmon Council has come along at a critical moment to communicate salmon’s health message and further elevate salmon as a household dish.”
Specializing in farmed salmon from Chile, Blumar’s facilities handle all aspects of salmon aquaculture from hatchery to harvest. Daniel Montoya, CEO of Blumar USA in Miami, says the council’s joint marketing of wild and farmed salmon is an important collaboration.
“As an aquaculture company, Blumar appreciates the Salmon Council’s sponsorship of farmed salmon,” said Montoya. “With salmon popping up more on menus and around the dinner table, farmed salmon has become essential to meeting the health and quality demands of consumers.”
The Salmon Council was established in January 2013 for the promotion of Salmon in the U.S. market. The Salmon Council’s eighteen company membership represents wild-caught, farmed, domestic and imported products.
