Greek fruit and vegetable exports to Belarus have grown significantly in 2013, although as pointed out by the Bureau of Economic and Business Affairs of the Greek embassy in Moscow, exports currently remain at very low levels, with the country still awaiting a response from the Belarusian authorities to the request for 1,000 additional transit permits for 2014, in an attempt to address the issues affecting exports to Russia caused by the crisis in Ukraine.
According to data from the Office for Economic and Commercial Affairs of the Greek embassy in Moscow, fruit and vegetable exports to Belarus in 2013 were as follows:
• Peaches reached a value of 1,513,528 Euro, compared with the 1,011,417 Euro of 2012 (a 49.64 % increase).
• Kiwifruit exports reached 1,430,197 Euro, compared with 454,003 Euro in 2012 (+215 %).
• Nectarine exports reached a value of 798,509 Euro, compared with the 361,509 Euro of 2012 (+120 %).
• Apricot reached a value of 728,112 Euro, compared with the 97,903 of 2012 (+643 %).
• Strawberry exports reached a value of 615,663 Euro, compared with 105,539 Euro in 2012 (+32.86 %).
• Cucumbers reached 259,857 Euro, with no exports having been made in 2012.
