German discount retailer Lidl is expanding its Romanian operations with two new stores opening in Bucharest and Craiova.
The new outlets will bring Lidl’s number of units to 175 units in the country.
Since the start of this year, the discounter has opened five new stores at Arad, Bucharest, Iasi, Popesti Leordeni and Timisoara.
The supermarket made the decision to change the location of a Targu-Mures store and opened a new retail unit in Drobeta Turnu-Severin.
Lidl plans to open a total of 15 stores in Romania this year.
Currently, the retailer employs over 3,500 staff across the stores, distribution centres and at its country headquarters.
Lidl now operates in 20 countries across Europe.
