Gressingham Duck, one of the UK’s leading fresh meat brands, has launched a new healthy, pan fry duck steak product.
The Duck Steak in a Ginger, Coriander and Lime marinade takes just 10 minutes to cook and contains less than 3% fat.
The new duck steaks launch first in Sainsbury’s this month at an introductory price of £4 with further listings in other retailers expected soon.
The skinless duck steaks are a new development for the Gressingham brand aiming to capitalise on the ‘dine-in’ market.
They are quick and simple to cook placed in a pan for 8-10 minutes turning once half way through cooking.
Rest in a warm place for five minutes and the steaks are ready to serve.
The steaks are very healthy too with less than 3g of fat making them a great option for a low fat and quick mid-week supper.
The product is packaged in a Darfresh film on a black tray which gives the steaks a premium feel and helps to extend the shelf life of the product.
Marketing Director Steve Curzon said:
“Our aim is that the new Duck Steak product will help to encourage even more people to Dine in with Duck as it is such a quick and simple meal to prepare.
“The fact that the steaks are pan fry and already marinated in a tasty sauce removes the fear factor that is sometimes associated with cooking duck.”
Fresh duck in the retail sector is valued at £45 million and Gressingham is using every tactic in the book to encourage further growth in this sector.
Gressingham is continuing to attract increased numbers of curious consumers to their site, with web traffic quadrupling in the last year, the result of investment in online marketing, their ‘How to cook duck’ videos and the campaign with Stylist magazine.
