Federal Mfg., powFederal Mfg.ered by Pro Mach, introduces a hygienic pressure/gravity filling machine for food applications including sauces, syrups, edible oils, and other viscous foods with speeds up to 300 bottles per minute. Unlike other pressure/gravity filling machines, the new Federal offering utilizes a sanitary overfill bowl that captures any product overflow so that it can be used without reprocessing, which reduces waste, time, and energy. This new machine also fills non-viscous food products for greater flexibility - two machines in one.

Typically, pressure/gravity filling machines pump any overflow product into a free standing overflow tank. For food applications, this means that any product in the tank would have to be reprocessed before it could be used or discarded. Federal's new innovative design integrates a stainless steel overflow bowl into the overall body of the machine and its clean in place system. Product in that hygienic tank is pumped up into the filler bowl for reuse. Integration of the overflow tank into the filling machine base also reduces the overall footprint of this solution as compared to free standing options.

Until the development of this machine, viscous food products shared the same filling technology as household chemicals, petroleum products, and paints. "We saw a real need in the food industry for a filling solution designed specifically for sanitary operation," said Mike Collins, Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Federal Mfg. "The first unit is already at a customer's plant, bottling hot sauce and performing to expectations."
