Proguard Self Storage now offers a wine storage facility at its Museum District location.
The units are armed with alarm systems to protect valuable wine collections. Storage rooms are also climate controlled to protect against temperature fluctuations, geared to ensure the quality of the wine.
In its Museum District facility in Houston, Proguard Self Storage has units that range in capacity from 21 cases, or 249 bottles, to 519 cases, or 6231 bottles. Units are available month-to-month or with longer contracts. Wines are stored in the dark to prevent any unwanted quality changes and to ensure that the aging process happens as intended.
Climate control is a key component of protecting wine collections, and Proguard Self Storage keeps units consistently at optimal conditions, maintaining temperatures of 54 to 57 degrees Fahrenheit and relative humidity at 58 to 65 percent. The units have Icynene closed-cell insulation to block air and moisture.
Proguard maintains an ideal climate for wine storage with temperature testing every 30 minutes and a natural gas generator in case of power outages.
Proguard also boasts an alarm system that helps security measures. The only way to access the facility is to get through the HID card reader and computerized coded keypad.
Each unit also operates with a slip-in, deadbolt cylinder lock. For further security, surveillance cameras monitor the entire Houston wine storage area, and management is notified of any suspicious attempts to access the wine storage units.
