Northern Ireland based food company, Moy Park, has invested in a new, state of the art chick delivery lorry that will help the company increase sales to almost 5 million parent stock breeders this year.
The lorry is designed with high tech ventilation, heating and cooling controls to ensure the very best welfare standards during transportation of the chicks.
David Gibson, Director of Agriculture at Moy Park said: “This new chick delivery lorry will allow us to meet increasing demand across our agriculture business.
“This part of the business has experienced phenomenal growth - with an 80 per cent growth in sales over the last decade, and an increase in sales of parent stock breeders well in excess of 20 per cent this year.
“Moy Park works with over 800 poultry farmers in the UK and we pride ourselves on being industry leaders in innovation and best practice.
“The new lorry features top of the range, innovative systems that will help maintain the highest levels of chick welfare standards, whilst significantly supporting the chick sales part of the business,” he concluded.
The lorry will transport up to 50,000 day-old chicks to Moy Park farms and other customers across Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland and Great Britain.
