British cheese maker Wensleydale Creamery has launched a new crumbly cheese slice in the market, manufactured using its Yorkshire Wensleydale cheese.
The new product will be available at all Asda stores as 160g re-closable packs of six slices.
Different from other Wensleydale cheese products, the branded Yorkshire Wensleydale slice packs will display the Wensleydale Creamery's new 'Only One Made in Yorkshire' logo along with European Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) logo, the company said.
Wensleydale Creamery managing director David Hartley said: "Consumers are increasingly demanding convenience and this is evidenced by the growth of the sliced cheese market.
"We can now satisfy our customers' needs with our creamy and full of flavour Yorkshire Wensleydale cheese being in a more convenient sliced format."
Currently, the sliced cheese market is valued at £191m and reports a growth of 14.5% year-on-year.
During last month, Wensleydale Creamery introduced a new range of blended cheese taster packs in in Asda, Tesco and Waitrose.
