According to reports from the quarantine office of the Novgorod region and the Republic of Mari El, Russia, 20 tonnes of Egyptian oranges were prevented entry last week because of the presence of agricultural pests, reports the Russian site "Vremya".

The Office for Seed and Quality control of agricultural products of the Novgorod region and the Republic of Mari E decided to quarantine the 40 tonnes of fruit coming from Egypt, as well as some fresh vegetables from Belarus.

The authorities note this is not the first time that Egyptian agricultural products are prevented from entering Russia, since different agricultural crops are put on quarantine in an almost daily basis.
