As part of the expansion, the facility will see an investment of around £3m.
Upon completion in spring 2016, the expansion is expected to increase the facility's production capacity by a third.
Commenting on the expansion, McGhee's Bakery managing director Gordon McGhee was quoted by BBC as saying: "The business has enjoyed strong growth following our move to the M8 Food Park 10 years ago and we are fully focused on further building our reputation and offering.
"Our significant investment in extending the bakery will help us consolidate and expand that offering to customers, in particular in the export market and frozen food sectors."
Founded in 1935, McGhee's Bakery prouces a range of freshly baked morning rolls, tea-bread & savoury products.
The company's products are sold to local shops in the region.
