New Zealand (PMA A-NZ) and Nutrition Australia are proud to announce the start of a fresh new era promoting consumer health awareness. PMA A-NZ and Nutrition Australia are joining forces in this year’s National Nutrition Week (11-17 October) to help people choose to live healthier lifestyles. “Our collaborative goals are to awaken consumers to the health benefits of picking more fresh produce as part of a brighter, healthier diet” said Renee Harrison, Marketing Manager, PMA A-NZ.

The partnership combines the strong messaging of the fresh produce industry-backed ‘Pick Right. Feel Bright!’ campaign, with Nutrition Australia’s ‘Try for 5’ challenge, to show consumers that eating more fresh produce, especially vegetables, is possible and will lead to a healthier nation and lower rates of obesity and related preventable illness.

“Combining the fresh produce industry – the source of so many products for healthier eating – with the Australian nutrition industry is a really exciting step,” said Michael Worthington, CEO, PMA A-NZ, “It just makes so much sense and we look forward to bringing it alive during National Nutrition Week.”

National Nutrition Week will be adopting the PMA A-NZ industry campaign ‘Pick Right. Feel Bright!’ as the primary message to inspire healthy eating at home, in the office, at schools and in everyday life. Consumers will be supported to put this messaging into practice through Nutrition Australia’s ‘Try for 5’ challenge which will encourage them to eat five serves of vegetables every day and enjoy the benefits of choosing to live a healthier lifestyle.

According to Lucinda Hancock, Chief Executive Officer for Nutrition Australia Vic Division, “Only 6% of Australians eat enough vegetables, yet more than a third of our daily kilojoules comes from heavily-processed foods and drinks like cakes, lollies, take away food and sugary drinks. We are delighted to be working with the ‘Pick Right. Feel Bright!’ campaign and the fresh produce industry to inspire consumers during National Nutrition Week to enjoy more vegetables, as well as fruit, which together make up the foundation of the Healthy Eating Pyramid.”

With the support, enthusiasm and commitment of the fresh produce, health and nutrition industries, PMA A-NZ and Nutrition Australia are at the forefront of bringing about meaningful change by motivating people to get excited about healthy fresh produce.
