According to estimates, 17 regions in Peru will add 126,610 new hectares of land into the productive chain, thus leading to an almost 10% increase compared to the previous year.
Products
Paddy rice (8.7%), coffee (8.3%), asparagus (3.4%), hard yellow corn (2.3%), bananas (4.8%), grapes (1.1%), cocoa (3.5%), avocados (2.6%) and tangerines (2.9%) would contribute to growth.
Agro-exports
In 2016, agro-exports would exceed US$6.0 billion, mainly due to non-traditional products shipment.
Exports' value is being doubled thanks to increasing Peruvian products penetration into new international markets.
As is known, Peru ranks among the world's top 10 food supplying countries. The nation exports asparagus, coffee, mango, maca, quinoa, olive, grape, avocado, artichoke and dry peppers.
Likewise, Peruvian beans, tangerine, ginger, broad beans, onions, fresh peas and blueberries offer nutritional value and contribute to food security.
