Israel-based flavour and fragrance company Frutarom Industries has opened a new facility for research and development, innovation, production, sales and marketing in Johannesburg, South Africa.
With the new facility, the company continues to implement its growth strategy that includes expanding its business in fast-growing and emerging markets.
Frutarom Industries president and CEO Ori Yehudai said: "Frutarom sees Africa as being a major growth engine for its activity.
"We intend to leverage our development and production capabilities in South Africa for the local South African market and also as a regional innovation centre for the entire continent."
The new centre will help expand Frutarom's existing activity in Africa and provide upgraded developments and applications services, as well as the use of efficient production methods to its customers in the region.
The Frutarom centre will also deliver support and comprehensive solutions to the customers in the flavouring solutions sector.
It will also provide health and taste solutions through the use of natural products that include speciality citrus products, natural colours, healthy ingredients, and natural antioxidants for protecting food and increasing their shelf life.

Over the recent years, Frutarom has been aiming at expanding its business in the sub-Saharan countries.
