Greek fruit and vegetable and processed food exporters have significantly good opportunities on the Polish market. According to a study published by the Bureau of Economic and Business Affairs (ECA) of the Greek embassy in Warsaw with regard to bilateral trade in agricultural products between the two countries, the following is noted:
The trade of agricultural products in 2014 reached a value of 243 million Euro (representing 31% of the total trade balance). The value of Greek agricultural exports to Poland amounted to 108.4 million Euro (33% of total Greek exports to Poland) and Greek agricultural imports from Poland amounted to 134.6 million Euro (29% of the total imports from Poland).
The country's trade deficit with Poland in agricultural products thus stood at around 26.2 million Euro, which accounts for 20% of the total trade deficit.
As shown by the data published, the most common Greek agricultural products in Poland are:
- Fruits and nuts, with exports worth 38.2 million Euro and a predominance of citrus, strawberries and stonefruit.
- Processed fruit and vegetables, with exports worth 23.9 million Euro and processed vegetables and tomatoes as the most common.
- Tobacco and manufactured tobacco substitutes, with exports worth 17.1 million Euro.
- Cereals, with exports worth 7.1 million Euro, mainly rice.
Meanwhile, the main Polish agricultural products imported by Greece are:
- Meat (worth 34.5 million Euro).
- Tobacco and manufactured tobacco substitutes (worth 16.9 million Euro).
- Vegetables, edible roots and tubers (worth 11.8 million Euro).
- Dairy products, birds' eggs and honey (worth 11.3 million Euro).
