At the moment, Polish customers are turning away from domestic potatoes and choosing those of foreign origin, as reported by the Institute of Agricultural and Food Economics.
"The poor quality of a significant part of the domestic potatoes currently available is probably making customers become primarily interested in newer potatoes from other origins," state the authors.
According to the information of the report, many of the larger customers sourcing small wholesalers are choosing those imports because they see them as better quality. The price of those imported potatoes stands at approximately 1.00 złoty/kg (0.23 Euro), which is considered acceptable for such clients.
Meanwhile, according to the IAFE, the supply of domestic early potatoes will probably start in late May.
