The US Department of Agriculture (USDA) designed a two-day training programme to support the government of Pakistan’s efforts to increase agricultural trade. The training was attended by approximately 30 Department of Plant Protection (DPP) officials and other agricultural professionals from across Pakistan.

The training was aimed at increasing Pakistani exports by informing officials how to comply with international plant health standards. Pakistan exports approximately $585 million worth of fresh fruits and vegetables annually.

“This training and similar ones serve the dual purpose of helping expand the Pakistani export market and building closer ties between our governments and people,” US Embassy Agricultural Counsellor David Williams said.

“We look forward to continuing our cooperation with the government of Pakistan to help increase fruit and vegetable exports to the US market.”
