Carrefour was fined 8100 yuan for sales of unqualified foods in Beijing

On Apr. 16 and 17, 2015, Mr. Wang bought DongLaiShun beef and tendon in brown sauce in Carrefour (Shuangjing store), 1397 yuan in total. External packagings of the two products were labeled with the food additive caramel colour. In accordance with relevant national standards, caramel colour should not be used in pot-stewed meat. The Second Intermediate People’s Court of Beijing sentenced Carrefour to return the payment 755 yuan to Mr. Wang for the products and a compensation of 8100 yuan. Mr. Wang returned the products involved to Carrefour. Tests of Consumer Council: 11 soy sauces including Pearl River Bridge contained micro carcinogens Guangzhou Metro Daily Consumer Council inspected 40 kinds of common bean oil, soy sauce and scallop sauce. The result indicated that 11 sauces may contain the cancerogen “4-methylimidazole”, thereinto, the content in “Yupin Huangjinbiao dark soy sauce” was the highest, and 1/2 teaspoon of the products provided excessive 4-methylimidazole compared with daily intakes of US.
