Argentina will export only 30% of its blueberry production this week, due to the current price drop situation which the global blueberry market is facing, especially in the US market.
Facing this critical moment for producers and exporters of the blueberry sector, the Argentinian Blueberry Committee – ABC, conducted an internal survey among its most representative members, to explore in greater detail the actual situation and therefore to be able to report it. Everyone agreed that given the considerable drop in prices, especially in the US market, this week airfreight exports to the mentioned market will be reduced to 30%, and if the situation remains, this will be replicated in the next weeks.
A clear example is what is happening in Tucuman; for week 43, of a total of 14 charter flights scheduled only 3 will be finally made. Regarding the rest of the fruit, the ones with higher quality will be shipped in refrigerated containers to different parts of Europe, UK and USA; and the remaining will be harvested directly for the process industry.
