Citrus experts in Pakistan have said that exporting seedless kinnow can be the most profitable way to sell the citrus fruit, due to its high demand across the globe.

Talking to APP, the experts of Citrus Research Institute Sargodha, said 95 per cent of the variety of seedless kinnow contained only one seed, with more juice and a longer storage life. They said seedless kinnow could be exported to Russia, England, the USA, Germany and other European countries for better rates.

Citrus Research Institution Director, Altaf-ul-Rehman, said all types of assistance and modern techniques were being provided to farmers for enhancing per acre citrus production. To improve citrus quality, according to international standards, he said the latest varieties of seedless citrus fruits were being introduced which should be adopted by farmers.

He added that saplings of “ARI 2016” seed, approved by the Punjab Seed Council had been cultivated over 30,000 acres of the province, including in Sargodha, Toba Tek Singh, Layyah and Vehari. He said the Punjab government was making efforts to introduce modern techniques in the agriculture sector.
