Transilvania Trading is recalling Trader Joe’s Mediterranean Hummus sold in Canada for possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. It was sold at Pirate Joe’s at 3744 West 10th Avenue in Vancouver, British Columbia at the retail level. No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with the consumption of this product.
The recalled product is Trader Joe’s Mediterranean Hummus in 454 gram packages. The use by dates are up to and including 12/15/16. There is no UPC number on the product.
If you bought this product, do not eat it. Throw it away in a a sealed container or take it back to the store for a full refund. Then clean your refrigerator with a mild bleach solution to kill any bacteria. Listeria bacteria can grow at refrigerator temperatures.
If you ate this product, watch yourself for the symptoms of listeriosis for the next 70 days. They include high fever, severe headache, stiff neck, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea.
