In recent years, the Chinese apple industry has seen many ups and downs. China is the world's largest apple producer and consumer and its planting area and output account for more than 40% of the world total, mainly concentrated in the Gulf of Bohai, the Loess Plateau, the Yellow River and the Southwest Highlands.
In 2016, at the China (International) Fruit Conference, Yang Jie, a researcher at the National Apple Engineering Technology Center, said that, according to authoritative statistics, the total output of Chinese fruit over the last four years increased by 46 million tons; an annual increase of 11 million 530 thousand tons. The continuous increase in output led to a corresponding decline in fruit prices, especially in China's apple industry. At present, the planting area and output are continuing to increase, which is a bit worrying. In addition, inventory, imports and exports, alternative fruit consumption and other factors, are also affecting the apple prices.
