In light of the unfavorable weather conditions in Yantai city (Shandong province), the peaches and cherries of this estate will only enter the market one-by-one in mid-April. The cherries on the market in Yantai now mainly consist of imported American cherries. At the same time, in a few large fruit stores, consumers can also find some cherries that come from Dalian city (Liaoning province).
The cherries from Dalian ripened earlier than those from Yantai. They're also of a different variety. The selling price varies from 100-200 RMB (14-27 EUR) per 0.5kg. The cherries from Dalian were grown in high temperature greenhouses and, depending on the market conditions for Yantai cherries, their price will still fluctuate a little. Greenhouses in Yantai will also be ready to put their cherries on the market in a fortnight's time, but the majority of peaches and cherries will only be available after May 1st.
