Japan re-opens imports for Northern Tasmanian fruit

After Northern Tasmania’s fruit fly free status was recognised, fruit from this region is  on its way to Japan again, Agriculture Minister David Littleproud said Japan had accepted evidence that fruit flies had been eradicated in Northern Tasmanian.

“Growers in Northern Tasmania can again sell fruit to Japan,” Mr Littleproud said. “[We’re] opening as many overseas markets as we can, and keeping them open when we have issues as we’ve had here. The market is now open.”
