"Thanks to the efficient management of the greenhouse base, the harvest of our Yantai cherries started on 20th March, three weeks earlier than other greenhouse cherries in the region. With such a big advantage, our supply will last till around the beginning of May. After that, our outdoor cherries will enter the market in the middle of May with supplies lasting till the middle of July," said Mr. Hua Yu, manager of the Yantai Qingquan Co. Ltd.
"This year, some of our cherries suffered from cracking due to the changing temperature during their ripening period. The total production volume is estimated to decrease this year, but no more than 10% compared to last year. Because of the higher costs for planting and labor, the market price of cherries has grown by around 15%, but it will fall greatly after the local Yantai cherries enter the market in large quantities. Overall, the total sales of this season will be higher than last year."
"In the recent years, the total planted area of cherries has been growing, but this didn't pose a threat to the market advantage of Yantai cherries. The main reason is that our cherries here are bigger, with thicker flesh and a sweeter taste, thanks to our ideal location. Moreover, the long history of cherry production here has helped the industry to mature, with advanced technology, good management and fast-evolving cherry varieties. These factors combined have contributed to the stable market share and the consistently high price of Yantai cherries in the domestic market."
"Our company is located in the Laishan District of Yantai, Shandong. We have seven greenhouses with a total area of 10 acres and an outdoor plantation of 20 acres. Our varieties include Tieton, Hongdeng and Shuijing. To better meet the needs of different types of consumers, our cherries are classified based on their sizes after harvest. Big ones will be sold to high-end fruit stores and small ones to wholesale markets."
"Currently, our cherries are sold mainly to wholesale markets in Shanghai, Beijing, Hebei and Nanjing under the trademark of Qingquan™ via traditional sales channels. A small percentage are available on WeChat, Taobao and our own e-commerce platform. With the fast growth of the Internet, we hope to expand our business and reach more consumers by cooperating with more shopping sites across the country."
