The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) is implementing a comprehensive reform plan to develop the agricultural sector in the Kurdish region of Iraq and expand the market for Kurdish products worldwide.

As part of the reforms, export duties have been lifted, allowing local companies to export fruit and vegetable surpluses. Seeking to support local farmers and give preference to domestic products, the KRG has imposed restrictions on the import of cucumbers.

Following the successful export of pomegranates to international markets, Kurdistan seeks to expand global marketing of grapes, apples, and honey produced in the region. The KRG harbours ambitious plans to stimulate economic growth and turn Kurdistan into a leading player in the global agriculture market.
