Peruvian exports of fresh garlic have registered a significant increase during the first quarter of the year. According to information published by AgrodataPeru, from January to March 2017, Peru dispatched 4,828,925 kilos of fresh garlic at an FOB value of US $ 8,028,622. These figures contrast positively with those of the first quarter of last year - in fact, it is practically double the volume and more than twice the monetary value, as Peru exported 2,448,814 kilos of fresh garlic for US $ 3,765. 232 in the same period last year.
According to the same source, the main buyer was the United States, which acquired 58% of total shipments (US $ 4.7 million). It was followed by Ecuador (18%), Brazil (8%), Mexico (5%), Spain (5%), the Netherlands (2%), Colombia (1%), Switzerland (1%), and other destinations that together add up to 2%.
The main exporters of this product was Olam Agro Peru SAC, which exported US $4 million at an average price of US $ 2.05 per kilo.
