Every year during this season all popular fruits like apples, pears, bananas and citrus hit the market in large numbers. At the moment these fruits are continuously coming from all over China to Wuxi. According to statistics on the Chaoyang Fruit wholesale market, the quality of honey pomelos has improved enormously because of the weather. Daily volumes reach up to six or seven hundred tons, occupying one third of the "fruit basket" in Wuxi. If we add the sales volume of oranges to this, the total sales volume of pomelos, tangerines and oranges takes up half of the market total in Wuxi.
In the past years a lot of rain has fallen around the end of October and the beginning of November, but this year there was little rainfall. Adding to this the intercalary day in June, the temperatures were also slightly higher than in the past. Therefore the quality and output of honey pomelos was good. The sales volume of honey pomelos has increased by almost 20% in contrast to previous years. Following the expansion in the area used for growing the fruit, the variety has improved and increased in output. The quality and volume of red-pulp pomelos this year was not bad either. The daily sales volume of pomelos in Wuxi this year has increased with 20% in comparison to last year.
