Initially, the boycott applied to the US, the EU, Australia, Norway and Canada. These countries were boycotted in August 2014. A year later, Albania, Montenegro, Iceland and Liechtenstein were added to the list. Ukraine followed in January 2016. The boycott applies to a large number of agricultural products, including fruit and vegetables. The Russian phytosanitary service Rosselkhoznadzor is said to have destroyed more than 26,000 tonnes of illegally imported product in recent years (since August 2015).
