Córdoba remains the province harvesting the most garlic, accounting for almost half of the acreage dedicated to this product in Andalusia (48%), with 2,600 hectares, followed by Seville, with 862 hectares (almost 16% of the total), Granada, with 787 (14.5%), Malaga with 610 (11.3%) and lastly Jaén, with 450 (8.3%).
In the rest of the provinces, the acreage is much smaller, as the five provinces aforementioned account for more than 98% of the total.
Córdoba is the fourth most important Spanish province in terms of garlic production and acreage, with around 2,600 hectares planted last year and around half a million daily wages. The sector has 18 production centers, mainly in Montalbán and Santaella. The province is also the leading Andalusian exporter. In 2017, Córdoba sold 27,347 tons abroad worth 45.89 million Euro.
