The business conference, which will be held on the 26th of this month and will be attended by entrepreneurs from the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Spain, Italy, Germany, and Belgium, has the support of the European Union (EU), ProColombia, the National Association of Foreign Trade (Analdex), and Corpohass, the entity that promotes the production and commercialization of Hass avocado.
The entrepreneurs will also visit Hass avocado crops and processing plants located in the Eje Cafetero region, where Pereira is located, and in the departments of Valle del Cauca, and Tolima, stated ProColombia, an agency that invests in the promotion of non-traditional exports, tourism and the country brand.
The president of ProColombia, Flavia Santoro, said the country produced Hass avocado "practically all year round, which makes the country one of the most attractive suppliers in the world."
"That's why we organize these kinds of agendas with buyers from different countries where there are possibilities to increase exports taking advantage of trade agreements," she added.
In 2017, Colombia consolidated its position as a major exporter of this avocado variety with sales mainly to the EU and the United States.
The Hass avocado is, after bananas, the second most exported fruit in Colombia, with sales of 53 million dollars in 2017.
Colombia recently joined the World Avocado Organization (WAO), which brings together the world's largest producers of this product.
