Last month, the first ginger from Peru arrived at Satori Holland. "We receive a container every week. Our clients are also very pleased with the quality. There is a high demand for good quality ginger from Peru. From France, in particular", says this Dutch import company's Director, Marcel Verdellen.

"We get mainly organic ginger from Peru. The market price for this is significantly higher than that of the Brazilian or Chinese products. However, this ginger's quality is much better than the Chinese product's quality", explains Marcel. "We have something to say about the Brazilian ginger this year. It took a knock last year. Some of our clients are not happy with this product's blue hue. So, some chains are specifically opting for the Peruvian ginger."

Satori Holland imports exotic fresh produce mainly from Latin America but, increasingly, from other continents too. "However, we see Peru as an important production area for the future. Last month, during the Expoalimentaria (international trade show), I made contact with various producers. We want to expand our range of products directly with them, without the interference of agencies", Marcel concludes.
