Core Tip: The overall apple and pear production volume in China greatly decreased this year because of extreme weather conditions.
"The overall apple and pear production volume in China greatly decreased this year because of extreme weather conditions. The market prices consequently increased in comparison to the same period last year. The production volume of Ya and Huangguan pears in Hebei decreased by 30%-50% this year. The harvest is finished and stored. The production volume of Fuji apples in Shandong decreased by 20%-30% this year. The apples are currently entering storage." This is according to Amy of Great Sun Fruits Co., Ltd.

"We export many pear varieties. We export Huangjin and Hepi pears from Shandong to the USA and Canada, and we export Huangguan and Ya pears to Southeast Asian markets. In addition, we also export Ya pears to Canada."

"The customs tariff on Chinese pear export to the USA increased by 10% because of the Sino-US trade war. It will again be increased, by 25%, on January 1st. This situation has not changed, but it does not greatly influence our pear export to the USA. We have very little competition in the US pear market. The pears we export are characteristic varieties with good product quality. There are only a few countries that I know of, like Korea, that can supply the same pear varieties as us, and their pear export has little influence on ours."

"Our company provides services in the agricultural industry that integrate agricultural product and plantation management, post-harvest purchases, pre-cooling in production areas, refrigerated storage, pre-selection, processing and packaging, and refrigerated distribution. We have fruit orchard cooperations in Shandong and Hebei. We mainly sell the fruit we produce in supermarkets and fruit stores in first and second tier cities, and through e-commerce platforms. At the same time, we also have a strong wish to cooperate with overseas buyers who are interested in importing pears or apples from China. We hope to assist them and provide a smooth trade experience."
